Waiver

Last updated: July 20, 2023
A written authorization to accept a physical item which, during manufacture, or after inspection, is found to depart from specified requirements, but is considered suitable for use as is or after repair by an approved method.

The customer typically allots waivers to the contractor to avoid losses due to scrap, possible rework and schedule slippage.

A waiver event is further characterized by the following:
  • It is directly associated with a serialized item.
  • It has a specified effectivity.
  • A waiver does not warrant change to a baseline.

A waiver record will be maintained by AssetWise as part of the item's build history.
